Coaching Program Information

Our goal...

The goal of the Coaching Committee is that every team has at least a "F" licensed coach. Once the coach is licensed, we hope he or she will continue their education through the "E/D" level.

District IX Coach Licensing Policy (adopted 2004)

The goal for District IX is to have all of our coaches obtain the CYSA coaching license that corresponds to the division and age of the team they are coaching.

Head Coaches

  • U6 teams will require a minimum of a CYSA Pre-F License
  • U8 teams will require a minimum of a CYSA F License
  • U10 and higher division 4 teams will require a minimum of a CYSA E License
  • Division 3 teams will require a minimum of a CYSA E/D License
  • Division 1 teams will require a minimum of a State D License

Assistant Coaches

  • U10 and higher division 4 teams will require a minimum of a CYSA F License
  • Division 3 teams will require a minimum of a CYSA F License
  • Division 1 teams will require a minimum of a CYSA E License

Transition Period For Coaches with Ongoing Teams

There is be a transition period for coaches who currently have a team, but do not hold the proper license under the new guidelines. All current coaches must comply with the following if they are to be issued a coaches pass.

  • F License requirement - The coach must attend and pass the CYSA F License Course by the upcoming playing season.
  • E License requirement - The coach must attend and pass the CYSA F License Course by the upcoming playing season and attend and pass the CYSA E License Course the following season.
  • E/D License requirement - The coach must attend and pass the CYSA F License Course by the upcoming playing season, attend and pass the CYSA E License Course in the following season, and attend and pass the CYSA E/D License Course in the third season.
  • State D License requirement - A transition period is not allowed for teams that require this license.

New Coaches

A new coach must obtain a CYSA F License their first year and a CYSA E License the following year.
